QB Gabi Duvinage: "Next goal - World Cup 2013"

Autor: Jörg Schlüter / Huddle | Kategorie: Blog, Inside the Team

The first days after returning home, the first German female quarterback of a national football team still had a little surreal memory: "I felt that way, as if I had come back from a trip from the moon and now I was wondering, what could follow now. The experiences of the World Cup in Sweden and the 10 Days of a very regulated daily routine have left their mark “, explains Gabi Duvinage. “It was a great experience personally and I'm also very proud, that I was allowed to represent Germany in Stockholm and that my hometown Dietzenbach also supported me. The phone stopped on Monday evening and many friends wanted to know, what we had all experienced. ”Such a trip aroused Gabi's hunger for more and she now wants, even if the trained gardener is a little bit in her prime, also at the second World Cup, which will probably be held in North America in three years, be there again. "If I pass the try-outs, the coaches want me and if my feet keep carrying me, then I definitely want to be there again. ”Gabi doesn’t worry about her shape: “I am always in the fresh air at work and also work physically. Our football training is at least twice a week and we handle the Greater Frankfurt-Nuremberg area several times in a carpool. We love football and we like to sacrifice our free time for it. ”

In any case, Gabi Duvinage found the World Cup a sporty challenge. In Sweden, the participating nations played a higher level than in the DBL. The Americans were more athletic and lightning fast: “We could have beaten Canada in the first half, but we failed to score. I found Finland even more difficult to play. They were built smaller and more agile than we were, and much more agile on their feet. From this point of view, these two defeats were justified. "

What happens now? Thoughts of resignation were quickly pushed aside. The first round and probably also the playoffs in the DBL are waiting for Gabi and the Nürnberg Hurricanes and to be able to pass the Berlin Kobra Ladies would be nice in their opinion, but of course not that easy either.

For a week I'm back in the land. For a week I think about, how to summarize the experience of American Football World Cup in Sweden in words. How can I tell outsiders, how to feel part of a team, The playing against other nations in a fringe sport for women, never much attention has been and is now the very first time competes in an international tournament?

How can one describe the pride, to be able to make history? to participate as part of the first German national team at the first World Cup, on the lawn with 44 to be like-minded and belt out the national anthem?

How then describes the disappointment, accompanied, if ultimately only 4. Place pops, 'cause you have found a leg and too late for the two decisive games that showed, what you can actually?

And how to bring other people closer, what you feel, when Ten days of football, theory, Training sessions in the blazing sun, Sweat and tears, video analysis, human feelings with the other team members spend, is run by an incredibly dedicated team and you then suddenly back into the "reality" of everyday life must incorporate?

No one writes to me more, what to wear to what occasions, my laundry I have to do it again themselves and, worst, I miss the girls, a team from the opposing team here in the Bundesliga in a foreign land, my team has become.

I am never a friend of Dauerbespaßung and crowds have been, to be allowed to be but this experience World Cup in Sweden makes me so proud and happy part of the story have been, I just hope, that the squad 1. Women's national team in American football a few more games will contest this year.

While it is a well-worn phrase, but:

It was to be playing my honor with these girls and women for Germany.

And who ever such a thing could experience, White, that without the many helping hands and organizing all this would never have been possible.

At the end of the World Cup there was a BBQ at the hotel. All teams except the United States also participated. In German, Sweden came out with in our hotel.

The Swedes were then the team, which provided for most mood. After dinner they joined their boom box and played music. The Swedes organized a camp since January each month. That you saw while dancing now. They had even rehearsed choreography. One was it dance from Euro Vision Song Contest, the whole of Europe should join and so did now.

When freestyling, the German girls were not long in asking. All forward Ariane Parusel and with it Michelle Schaffer and Manuela Scott. Not surprising, The two players with Cheerleading Background. The Swedes were thrilled.

The mood for cooking then brought Defense Coordinator Daniel Koch, when he suddenly rushed into the middle and the audience dancing by storm. Now the dam was called gebrochen.Abwechselnd Sweden and Germany their coaches and staff on, to rock the dance floor. even Dr. Marco Ezechieli, the sake of simplicity, only Renegade or Dr. called Enchilada, had with ran, as well as physio Steffen. Germany and Sweden meant prima located, was perhaps also to the blue and yellow T Shirts Deutsche.

Even Team Canada took active with a. The Finns, however, came some very rausgeputzt and talking posh back.

After the proclamation of the all-star team (Moreover, we were able to contribute a few players) drove the Swedes back into town. With a little quieter music we celebrated until it again began to get brighter (this starts at just after one of, it was never really dark)

Back to life!

Ja, and, and….

wieder back to life, back to reality! Life caught up with me again. To 10 Days of isolation in an old sports boarding school and a beautifully located hotel, reality has me again. Less than seven hours after arriving in Frankfurt, and less than four hours after I went to bed, my alarm clock rang and I had to jump from my feathers to do my day's work.

Everything is still a bit surreal…I really was only 10 Tage out of space? It seems so much more to me. So much has passed me…I was a little scared, when I read in the newspaper today, as our new Federal President is called. Wasn't just the debate about the candidates?

I still seem slightly irradiated. My colleagues are surprised, when I am haphazardly in the office and looking for my calendar to coordinate my appointments independently. Sometimes I am inclined to take flipchart paper and hang my daily routine clearly. I read on Facebook, that others feel the same way. It means quickly again “grown up” to become, and from the “passive role” to come and plan life again independently. Even if it was pleasant, to shut down the brain sometimes.

What is left of them 10 Days World Cup? A mixed feeling. Great moments, goose bumps, but also disappointments and tears about personal and athletic performance. However, the pride of fighting to the end prevails. Not to have stuck my head in the sand and to have had a good show.

Christiane wrote it before. I was a popular photo subject. Quite exciting to be in the spotlight like this. Even before our first game, two Austrians came up to me, to ask me sheepishly, whether you can speak to me. Of course they can. Almost frozen with fear, they ask holes in my stomach, which I also willingly answer. After the game against Sweden, I will be intercepted again by Austria. This time the ladies have a request. You want to be photographed with me. Well, I'm ready for that too. It won't be the only and last time, where I'm asked to take a photo. Our bus driver describes himself as my biggest fan and gets a photo. A Canadian coach engages me in discussions about my football career; Canada and Finland still get some photos on the last evening, to be able to prove at home, that they actually had to fight such giants; and the girls from the USA are amazed and enthusiastic, don't believe me, that I'm actually so slow, as I say. But what I like best is the nickname, that Austria gave me. For them, my name is just “Germinator” like Herminator or Terminator. (*.*)b

My size was not an attraction in Stockholm alone, As I have heard, the commentators want to couple me up and offered the audience to get my mobile number if interested. What should I think of that??

This will first be my last post on the blog. It was an honor, to be able to be there at the premiere of the women's national team shank. One conclusion we will draw.

even as some stories are missing, I ask all teammates, Fans and friends, write these. Enter either directly or send me.

For me, the trip to Stockholm ended with a big fright.

I had my friend and running back coach Conny Jackel on Sunday evening take you directly in the eye clinic Frankfurt Höchst. was at this time is almost completely blind in his left eye. The cause is a retinal detachment. Yesterday she had an operation. Whether the medical practitioners were able to save the eyesight, we will in the coming days (and weeks) see.

As long as we have to wait and hope.

Update: At least light dark and moving things they can already perceive.

Update 2: The professor himself has operated. Doctors are optimistic. Above the gas horizon can already see something, even if everything is completely green. However, the vision will not be able to reach the previous state on the eye, since the point of sharpest vision is affected. I want to thank everyone for the many wishes. Who wants to ring the bell times in the next few days: 069 3106 75886. She is getting boring.

Update 3: On Friday Conny can go home. The rest time will tell

Great gesture

Autor: AGebek | Kategorie: General, Blog, Inside the Team

At a World Cup there are always players, who take a step forward. Like Manuela Scott from second division Stuttgart Scorpions Sisters. In the game for third place she could show that, what was already indicated in the first two encounters. It is able to carry the load in the attack. It made them reliable meter by meter.

On the other hand, there are players, they don't 100% of their performance. This time, she was unlucky on her side. Undisputedly she is one of the best players in Germany and was able to show at least in the second half. But Suse is more than just a good football player. She is also a good team player.

In the match for third place she was awarded the MVP honor by the organizer, because she ended up scoring two touchdowns. After handing over the helmet trophy on the field, she went directly to Manuela Scott and passed the trophy on to her. With this fair gesture, she wasn't just showing team- and sportsmanship, but also what everyone in the Germany team thought: Manuela Scott had earned the honor!

Suse got a helmet after all: We received a mini helmet from Team USA. It was passed on directly to her in thanks for her gesture.

Was wird hier gelassen?

Natürlich in unseren Deutschland-Trainingsanzügen.

This brings me to the bus to the airport afloat out of bed and early.

Tomorrow night I'll be in Sweden and Tuesday tread my first game on the road to World Cup. I can still hardly believe.

Finale is possible!

Autor: Jörg Schlüter / Huddle | Kategorie: General, Blog, Inside the Team

Daniel Koch: “Don't underestimate Sweden, USA not so far away and final is possible!“

As a defense coordinator, Daniel Koch has one of the three key roles in the coaching staff of the new German women's national team. After graduating from Humboldt High School in Ulm, he studied at Ulm University of Applied Sciences / Neu-Ulm and earned the degree of a graduate industrial engineer (FH). Meanwhile, he also looks back on ten years of experience as a trainer and, of course, has the AFVD Trainer A license. Koch has also acted as a referee for a long time and of course sees this as an advantage, because you cannot know enough about football rules as a coach. As an adolescent, he was selected as an active player in the Bayern selection and played for various men's teams, most recently at the Franken Knights in GFL2 Süd.

Jörg Schlueter talked to him about his personal women's football World Cup expectations. Do you already have the concept for the upcoming Strausberg Camp ready?? What else will they be taught there??

D. Koch: We will primarily watch this video of the international match Sweden-Finland and further deepen what we have learned in the Silberborn Camp. This also applies to the playbook. We also want to focus specifically on the Swedish national team, since they'll be our first opponent and I don't think so either, that we should underestimate Sweden. How does a defensive coach prepare for opponents?, that cannot be analyzed in advance?

D. Koch: As already known, we have league game records from Canada and the USA. We know the names of the players in the squad and focus primarily on the game systems of the open team and look first, ob der Gegner mehr läuft oder das Passspiel bevorzugt.

Testing the Coaches

Autor: AGebek | Kategorie: General, Facts about the team, Inside the Team, Staff

Daniel Koch (Defense Line Franken Knights)

Direkt mittendrin also.
