Be open for something new – this blog is new territory for the AVFD. So we can also try new things here. Coach Trabi (Robert Melzer) I noticed during the camp for his inexhaustible work frenzy, his great knowledge and willingness, to share this knowledge and to pass it on. What could be more obvious than to create a corner here in the blog for exactly this purpose. I was able to win over Coach Trabi, to regularly post articles on American football techniques. A series about the little things in football is planned. Short posts, each showing only a small aspect of football. They are general and do not always correspond to the techniques coached in the national team. This series is intended to be helpful for all players and fans interested in football. The same applies to national players: Your coordinator or position coach is responsible for any questions.

At the start there is a personal impression of Robert from the training camp, before we go to medias res next time.

Yours

Andreas Gebek

Welcome to
Coach Trabi’s Tips & Tricks.

It is the idea of press spokesman Andreas Gebek, To open an area here where I can speak about old and new in American football.

Before the first camp in Cologne, I had little to do with women's football, I was all the more pleased about the nomination as coach of the women's national team. Accordingly, I began my work with an absolutely open mind and full of curiosity.

I noticed it the first time I met, that there is a lot of potential and a thirst for knowledge among women. Of course we want to breastfeed it here.

What do we want to start with??

I would say, that we start with the most important foundation: Be open for something new.

Football has, how we all know, continuously developed over many years. That always led to new techniques and game systems. Only those who remain open to new things, listening and adapting to innovations can be successful in the long run.

I will try to explain one thing or the other to you here, so that we can get even better at our favorite sport.

Before we get started with the techniques, I would like to say a word to all of them, who unfortunately didn't make it into the national team's 45 squad, judge.

You made it to the camp in Silberborn, Nobody can take that away from you. You are one of the 75 best female football players in Germany. If you take a closer look, you will find out, that you on your position to the e.g. best 10 Wide Receiver, the best 12 Defense Backs etc. heard. The decision, who is allowed to go to Sweden, can therefore only be read from the little things that we coaches see in the players. Believe me, it was not an easy decision for us.

Please keep everyone so ambitious and enthusiastic about football, so that the decision about the next World Cup or European Championship will be even more difficult.

Sincerely

Your coach Trabi (Robert Melzer)

The training camp in my view

Pretty cold hit me and my team-mates Steffi and Miri into Silberborn. After a short detour via Holzminden and the local supermarket, we got hold of a parking space right outside the door. Gradually, other players from different teams arrived. Some I knew very well (Players in the 1. Party), some I did not know (Players in the 2. Party). The acquaintances greeted each other with hugs and chatter went straight off. When women come together… :-).

After the performance sports director has arrived, it was about time 10 Pm for check-in. In the order of logging the rooms were occupied. I shared a room with Steffi (BKL) and Sandra and Anja (both Dresden). Steffi must have felt pretty sure, with so many liners in a room ;-).

A short time later it was the first theory session on the program, separately for offense and defense. I was allowed to attend the Defense Theory.
According to the theory, we went with Upper pads out already. As nice as the weather in the morning, too bad it was the afternoon. Regen, Thunder and lightning shortened first practice, so it followed right back to the theoretical went. Even after dinner was not an end to the theory. Slowly, the fatigue was spreading and the capacity faded by the minute. Finally, I think it was so half 10, we were allowed to bed. I was following immediately :-).

Next morning: theory, Walktrough, Full Pads Training. It was still raining, so that the “race” was no longer recognizable as such. mud, Mud and mud again. If you do not stuck, slipped one from. Naja, the conditions were the same for all yes. So slowly turned me with a sense one, I did not know before. I had good competition on my Positon and true. I had to give everything and show, I could. Every word the coach was analyzed and scrutinized in the head: “What he means now so?” “Was that good or bad?”. With this feeling I went to sleep every night. So that's it, when your own performance is evaluated outside of their own team of neutral Coaches. Oh man… so I had to cope first. Nevertheless, the fun in the scrimmages was not neglected.

Saturday night was there yet surprisingly one meetings with the Postioncoaches. I was extremely uneasy. What to expect? What will he tell me? Am I good, I have to prove the next day again. Am I bad, I have to prove myself and am also possibly. inhibited by the criticism. That is hard. On Sunday, the last day there was the final-Scrimmage. There, too, one was reminded again, that this is the last chance here to prove themselves.
With each error, I have committed, the feeling was worse. “Is this the end?” On the other hand the fun comes out then but, the Football for me is yes. So I played free of the liver, by instinct. To 36 Plays the end of the camp was then announced. Now everything is done, Now nothing can be more change. The coaches have decided or will decide still in subsequent Coaches Meeting.

Conclusion: It was a new experience to train with so many good Spielerinnnen together. It was to compete against to see a new experience. And it was also a new experience, like football Germany brings together and how friendly the players were each other. A huge compliment goes to the Orga and Staff Team. Christiane had always turn to them an open ear and you could with any concerns. You had to worry about anything, it was all taken care of. I felt very well attended. Thank you very much.

PS: I'm going crazy and I look forward with all the good players together to stand on the field. 🙂

Tag der Entscheidung

31.03.10

Teams do well not so common station in Hochsolling. pity, because the area around Silberborn is well suited. It is located in Germany and offers all reasonable access routes. And the holiday region with its rich nature is secluded enough, that focus on , but rather provides that matters. The sport.

The rare presence of teams needed us an even greater attention. We had three times the press at Camp. The Daily Gazette Holzminden, Westfalenblatt and Neue Westfälische (in the order of arrival) gave us the honor. we could maintain a result the next day in hand. When Daily Gazette we had made it to the front page and get an extra half a page in local sports. Our innkeeper got us three copies. Thank you very much.

Perhaps the article were the cause, that we had in the afternoon session as many onlookers, who were very interested and have watched enthusiastically. Turned even have been sitting in the trees around the field of play.
