Although four teams live here on the site, you rarely get to see each other. Either you are on the move yourself or the others. You can talk to everyone, but one has the most contact with Canada, because they share most of the houses with us. So we from the staff have to go through a Canadian hallway every time to get to our rooms.

The Canadians we hung up a lot of motivational quotes. For example the picture from Friday Night Lights with the slogan “Can you be perfect?” or Al Pacino with “Inches”. There are also handwritten motivation articles about two Canadian wild geese, that the coach saw here. Geese take care of each other, work in a team. Who can no longer, lets himself fall back and the next goose takes over the leadership work. Does she need a break, a goose stays with her. One is careful when eating, while the other is eating. The usual motivational phrase. But the geese don't do that, because they are geese, but Canadians!!!

Wir wohnen in dem Hotel Skogshem & Wijk.

Das Hotel liegt eswas ausserhalb von Stockholm auf der Insel Lidingö. Natürlich gibt es eine Brücke nach Stockholm, wir müssen nicht jedesmal eine Fähre nehmen. Die Insel, zumindest der Teil, den wir bewohnen, ist sehr ländlich. Hinter dem Hotel liegen Wälder und Wiesen, vereinzelt dazwischen ein paar Häuser. Sehr friedlich und keine 10 Kilometer von der City entfernt. Fantastisch. Wir haben jetzt schon öfter ein Rudel Rehe gesehen, die im Wald vorbeiziehen.

Das Hotel liegt direkt am Wasser. Die weiträumige Anlage hat fünf verschiedene Häuser. Natürlich sind wir über alle fünf Häuser verteilt. Die Kanadier sind zum Großteil bei uns in Skogshem mit untergebracht, die Finnen und Österreicher bewohnen mehr das Haus Wijk. Die Zimmer sind nett eingerichtet und haben alles was man braucht. Die Spielerinnen haben meist Mehr-Bett Zimmer mit 3-4 Leuten. Der Staff und einige Spieler haben Einzelzimmer. Manche sogar mit Seeblick. Bei mir steht ein Baum davor, Otherwise I could see the large Baltic Sea ferries in Stockholm past us. 🙁

What is also important. There is internet via WLAN here. Two euros for 24 Hours is a fair price. German hotels should take an example there.

We have the restaurant with a sea view around the central square, The meeting rooms with built -in projectors, Reception and much more. The hotel has four stars. We discover many beautiful things. In addition to the fitness studio, there are massage rooms, Discovered Meike for themselves and mainly works here in the future. There are darts and billiards and many beautiful things, die wir aus Zeitmangel eh nicht nutzen. Den Bade-Steg am Meer haben einige Spielerinnen in der freien Zeit vor dem Spiel schon genutzt. Das Wasser ist wohl frisch, aber erträglich habe ich gehört.

Das Essen, meist das wichtigste an der Unterkunft, ist gut. Es ist lecker, in ausreichenden Mengen vorhanden und die Rezepte sind schwedisch angehaucht. Eigentlich schmeckt es allen.

Das Hotel ist nur von den vier Footballteams und den Schiedsrichterinnen belegt. Das führt dazu, dass an der Rezeption der IFAF Präsident Tommy Wiking persönlich Dienst hat. Bei dieser WM gilt wirklich: Hier bedient der Chef noch persönlich.

Eigentlich ein Paradies. Aber auch das Paradies hat Schattenseiten, wie wir später feststellen müssen.

So sind die Zustellbetten bei den Spielerinnen nicht so gut. Nach langen Kampf haben wir nun Tommy Wiking zusätzliche Matrazen und Decken abgerungen. Rebekka Braun hat die Matrazen nun lieber direkt auf den Boden gelegt und schläft dort.

Das Orgateam ist freundlich und jederzeit willens uns zu helfen, aber wie man so mitbekommt, klappt einiges in der Organisation nicht so wie gewünscht. Aber aus meiner Erfahrung ist das immer so, da muss das Orga-Team genauso durch wie wir mit unserer Mannschaften . Von unsern kleinen und großen Katastrophen später mehr…

The 48-hour day is over. Immediately after training on Saturday I drove to Stockholm with Thorsten Kunert in the equipment truck. That was stress.

First of all, we had to make a detour to Berlin. The story with the pants. The details will come later, only that much: Thomas Winter sent another set of pants from the national team's pool with ICE Express from Hamburg to Berlin. We had to pick it up, although the navigation system already calculated that we were short on time. So let's cucumber through Berlin. We flew through Mecklenburg -Vorpommern for it, Foot on the gas and always at the limit. It comes as it comes, the ferry was of course delayed and we could wait in Sassnitz. No matter, The main thing is on board. Almost four hours crossing from 23:00 to 3:00. I also closed my eyes for an hour somewhere on an uncomfortable seat. From Trelleborg it is 600km to Stockholm. Through the night, which was no longer at half past three, we drove north. And fought against sleep. But we got along well and luckily he drove most of the route, because my eyes kept falling shut.

One 10:30 we were in Stockholm on time. Katrin Bartels received us. She had already organized the most important things. First the jerseys were put in the washing machine. We had to look for them first. But when searching, you quickly come into contact. Team Canada players helped us out. Later I showed Austria the flat there.

Then we had to unload the bus. I do not know, how many times i have run. But I know, that we have a hell of a lot with us. Really much. We're also the only team with an equipment room. Thorsten has a storage room, half full of old furniture, to get. Within a few hours she was unrecognizable. Here is his realm in the basement now. We have a lot more with us than our opponents anyway. We are the only ones to have our own doctor with us.

Die Teamleitung der Frauen-Nationalmannschaft wurde vom Organisationskomitee der WWC 2010 gestern darüber informiert, dass aus logistischen Gründen das Team-Quartier der deutschen Mannschaft geändert wurde.

Wir werden nun (ebenso wie Österreich, Kanada und Finnland) im Konferenzhotel „Skogshem-Wijk“ wohnen. Dieses im nordischen Stil eingerichtete Meetingzentrum besitzt ein kleines Fitnesscenter, eine Sauna, einen Aufenthaltsraum mit Billard/Tischtennis, vornehmlich 1er, 2er und 3er Zimmer und liegt auf der Insel Lidingö (east of downtown) right on the lake.

Freitag, 7. Mai, 23 Uhr. Ich lande in Stockholm und werde als letzter Teilnehmer von den beiden verantwortlichen Schweden am Flughafen eingesammelt. Ich bin pünktlich, ich habe mein Gepäck – und ich bin da.

So geht es nicht allen Teilnehmern am Technical Meeting, bei welchem alle an der Weltmeisterschaft teilnehmenden Länder vorab Stadion, Quartier etc. besichtigen und alle Regularien besprechen können. Das Gepäck des US-amerikanischen Vertreters ist irgendwo beim Umsteigen verloren gegangen, einer der beiden Kanadier hat den Anschlussflug verpasst und wird nicht mehr kommen und die Maschine des armen österreichischen Abgeordneten musste auf Grund eines technischen Defektes umkehren und nach Wien zurückfliegen – und er hat keine Möglichkeit nachzukommen.

Dennoch finden sich am Samstagmorgen rund 15 Personen im Meetingraum des Zinkensdamm-Stadions ein und werden von den Präsidenten des schwedischen (Ausrichter) und finnischen (Turnierleiter) Footballverbandes begrüßt.

Nach einigen Stunden Powerpointpräsentation über Regeln, Spielpläne, Trainingspläne, Infos zu Essen, Bussen, Spielkleidung, Anti-Doping und wer weiß was noch allem besichtigen wir das Stadion, die Kabinen, den Trainingsplatz und anschließend das Hotel.

Auch hier haben wir Glück – unser Hotel (StayAt Solna) liegt zwar etwas außerhalb vom Stockholmer Zentrum (Solna ist eine eigene Gemeinde im Norden Stockholms) – aber die anderen Teams wohnen viel weiter außerhalb in einem Kongresszentrum zwischen grünen Wiesen, wenn auch direkt am See. Only the United States has itself a hotel rented and now resides in the City. In der Umgebung unseres Hotels gibt es einen gut sortierten Supermarkt (150m, 8-22 Uhr täglich), die U-Bahnstation (ca. 5 Stationen zum Hauptbahnhof) und auch einige Restaurants (Pizzeria, Asia-Imbiss, Grieche). Ansonsten sind ein Kino und ein Shoppingcenter in Laufnähe (15 min.).

Das Hotel selbst verfügt über Apartments mit 1-4 Betten, jeweils mit Küche (inkl. Kühlschrank und Mikrowelle) und geräumigem Bad (Dusche), Schreibtisch, TV, Telefon, Föhn und Internetzugang. Zwei Computer stehen im Erdgeschoss, wo auch das Frühstücksbuffett stattfindet, im 9. Stock gibt es eine kleine Dachterrasse, eine Sauna und einen Waschmaschinenraum (2 Waschmaschine, 2 Trockner). Der Transport zu Training oder Spiel erfolgt per Bus, die Meetingräume liegen in ca. 10 min. Fußmarsch Entfernung.

Am Sonntagmorgen fahre ich mit vielen Infos und Fotos zurück zum Flughafen, begleitet vom ‚Amerikaner ohne Gepäck’. Die Check-In-Schlangen sind ca. 1 km lang, doch der Self-Service druckt nur mir einen Boardingpass aus. Es stellt sich heraus, dass der Ami „randomly picked for security reasons“ noch mal extra zum Sicherheitspersonal muss, die Dame ist zwar nett, das Gepäck jedoch findet auch sie nicht. Dafür kann sie ihm mitteilen, dass sein Flug eineinhalb Stunden Verspätung hat, da der isländische Vulkan wieder Asche spuckt. Somit wird er in New York seinen Anschluss nach Washington mit Sicherheit verpassen.

Leute, wenn wir bei der WM auch so viel Glück haben, mache ich mir um die Amerikaner jedenfalls keine Sorgen!

Wenn im Juni die Deutsche Frauen-Nationalmannschaft in Stockholm ihre Premiere feiert und um die Weltmeisterschaft kämpft, baut sie dabei auch auf die lautstarke Unterstützung durch die deutschen Fans. “Natürlich würden wir uns freuen, eine größere deutsche Fan-Gemeinde in Stockholm begrüßen zu dürfen. Das würde für das Team eine Extra-Motivation bedeuten. In knappen Spielen kann das den Unterscheid ausmachen” freut sich die Leistungssportdirektorin Frauen, Christiane Langkamm.
